about

Throughout my life, music has been a grounding force. Being a musician all of my life playing multiple instruments, music has always been with me. I’ve found ways to cope through my darkest moments by making music, and I’ve found ways to create a time machine to relive and remember some of the happier moments of my life by making music. I find it absolutely beautiful how music has all of these properties: to heal, to love, to remember, etc.

As I began creating more music after releasing “DrunkenFistRaps” in June 2023,, I saw a story on Instagram from one of my favorite rappers from Chicago. He expressed how he “Loves this rap shit”. That resonated with me deeply; hip-hop and rap being what I grew up on, it’s natural for me to relate in loving the genre that helped influence my creativity for most of my life.

I had an epiphany after making the first song for this project, “Georgia” for this project: I have made a lot of music as a coping mechanism, but I haven’t focused on making a musical project that just felt fun and full of joy. I wanted to experiment further than I have before with my production, songwriting, and performance to create a different atmosphere. I wanted to create an atmosphere on this project that showed how much I “loved this rap shit”.

I want to specifically thank Salem Iyabode for being a huge creative influence on this project for me. We collaborated a lot, resulting in the song “Restart” on this project where Salem plays the bass. I’m so grateful for Salem wanting to make music with me and pushing me to push the creative envelope. I also want to thank my for life brothers: Wade and Jamil for always being an influential creative force on what I do as an artist and always pushing me to be the best artist I can be. I also want to thank the Bankston family; your love and support means the world to me and I'm so grateful to have gotten to know y'all even through such a difficult time. I want to thank PUPIL (aka Michael H. Bankston III) for always continuing to inspire me, wherever he is watching over us. I want to last but not least thank my Mother for always being there. I know you say you’re my mom you’re supposed to, but I’m still grateful you’re there.
