about

This is the second single, and second song on Fanaticus's upcoming project: "DrunkenFistRaps EP". Here is an excerpt from Fanaticus about this song:

"came home drunk from werk one day (this was the second session of DFR), after making 'Care' I wanted to make something a lil more upbeat. so I made this beat. earlier in the day, I tweeted "The rope right there!" obviously, i was going thru a lot of shit. while making this beat, i had a funny thought:

being from Ohio, and the Ohio state song was "Hang On Sloopy". as a dedicated band geek, i learned and played that song in marching/pep band. I had a thought of "lol, 'haaaaang on noosey, nooooosey hang on' in the tune of the chorus, then said 'wait a minute, I have something here'

this was the first look into myself honestly after coping with the sudden death of my close friend Michael Bankston III. this is where I realized DFR needed to be about how much more honest I felt I could be when I got drunk and make music, and how therapeutic that process became. it's a weird dilemma I faced with my identity creating this song.

I enlisted Davis the Dorchester Bully after being told by my OG, Sharkula, that he was an amazing MC and that we would make some great music together. man, was he right. Davis took this track and turned it up 10 notches.

I hope y'all enjoy."

lyrics

HOOK
Said hang on Lucy, drinking Truly’s/
Tryna figure out the right vibe for the movie//
Smoking loosies, never want a full thing/
Always worried about what they think, so foolish//
See the noosey? Never held a tool-ey/
Steady hot and cold, Katy Perry, ain't fooling//
Caught me drooling, nodding off the blue things/
Treading on the line, suicide, but I’m cooling///

VERSE (Fanaticus
Using, why you always using?/
Always tryna numb all the thoughts that’s brooding?//
Who you choosing? Oh, that’s a cool thing/
Steady rolling papers, just worried who moving?//
They be cruising, watching me sleuthing/
Always politicking, I’m just tryna stay grooving//
Head booming, Thoughts tryna zoom in, catch me on a high 'cause this life ain’t soothing//
Why you never call, but you wonder how I’m doing?/
Hm, Never been true thing/
Begging for some weed, You can swallow on a seed bitch//
(Hoe!) These niggas been too fake/
PUPIL in the ground, can’t see him in the clouds//
Uh, This high ain't moving/
I just wanna hear if you proud of me now//
Imposter syndrome, insecure about the sound//

HOOK (repeat)

BRIDGE

Yeah, Suicidal, coolin'/
With a smile on my face no foolin'//
So high that we burn jet fuel, and/
I won’t let nobody make this ruined//
Yeah, And i’m riding through it/
Surfing thru the waves that make us truent//
Confluence spreads us too thin/
Tryna make it out but the tide got me pulled in//

VERSE (Davis, the Dorchester Bully)

Keep a ashtray full of broken things/
Lips still chapped from when you spoke your dreams//
Wings of wax cracked, been sewing up the seams/
Mirrors in a fun house, it ain’t always what it seems//
Old friends turned enemies/
Love ones in the dirt turned specters in my dreams//
Headspace is getting too crowded/
God, wish I ain’t have so many of these//
Death and sin stay flirting with me/
Ouroboro's garter belt pulled down to the knees//
Pulled the curtain back, through the veil i peaked/
The void is a vast and endless sea/
Elysian fields and golden wheat//
Crumbled into fragments, black ash, i weeped//
Yahweh ignored the prayers i plead/
Devil better keep that same energy//

HOOK (repeat)
